Wonderwall - Audio/Video Remix

Tuesday, September 21, 2010
This is a remix of the song Wonderwall, by Oasis that I did about a year ago. I used to be a video guy in another life, so I took a stab at re-cutting the video to match my remix. My version is about 6:45, so I ended up having to re-use some footage to make it all work. The original song is original is about 87 BPM, and mine is 110 BPM - a more danceable tempo - so most of the video had to be speed-up to match. Enjoy.

Breezin (Wind Chill Mix)

Monday, September 13, 2010
Another one from the archives.... this one comes from way back in 2003.

Many many moons ago - when I first started remixing - I was a semi-regular on AcidPlanet.com (I'm still listed there under Analog Kid). At one point AP had a contest to remix some classic Jazz tracks, so I thought I would give it a try. Well to my shock and amazement, I ended up winning the contest with my Drum-N-Bass version of George Benson's hit, "Breezin."

So, without further ado.. here is the track. If you can, I would recommend headphones for this... there are some nice stereo FX at work.

I ended up winning a bunch of Loop CDs from Sony and a retro-styled all-in-one turntable!

Don't be a Vader Hater!

I've been listening to some old stuff and found a few goodies to post, so you just gotta bear with me. ;)

This started out as just goofing around with my daughter, a MIDI file of the Imperial March (Darth Vader's Theme) and a couple of VSTs. But as some of these things work out, the end result sounded pretty cool so I saved it and rendered it out.

So for your listening and dancing pleasure... the Imperial March - Skull Snaps Mix.

For you other VST geeks out there, this was played with the Roland/Edirol Orchestral VST, SuperWave P8 VST, Delay Lama VST, Smartelectronix Asynth VST and the Synth1 VST.

A Simple Lullaby

Monday, September 6, 2010
This is a little guitar and keyboard improvisation that ended up sounding (at least to me) like a Scots-Irish lullaby. For those that care, the guitar is in drop-D tuning. So kiss your love, partner or child and tell them Oíche mhaith, codladh sámh (Good night, sleep well).

Sorry, it looks like you can't do Flash.

Music for an Imaginary Film

Saturday, September 4, 2010
So after my trip into Remix/Mash-up land with Miss Gaga, I swung my musical pendulum about as far the other direction as I think it can go.

So here is a music cue for an imaginary film. I'm not sure what type of scene this would go to, so I'll let you decide as you listen.

Paparazzi (Lady Gaga Vs. Eurythmics)

Wednesday, September 1, 2010
Another version of Paparazzi... what's all this then? Sometimes things work in strange ways, and you just have to go with it.

As I began playing around with the vocal tracks and instrumentation on the "Ear Worm Mix" of Paparazzi, I was suddenly struck by the fact that the melody and bass progression of the original song sounded almost exactly like the Eurythmics Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This). So I did what any good musician would do; I made a copy of the project I was working on and imported the song Sweet Dreams into my mix and looked to see if they really did match up as much as my ear told me they would.

It was a match made in audio heaven - with the help of Cubase and some fine editing and tweezing to the tracks. This is a Mash-up/Remix hybrid, in that I augmented a few parts with some doubling on synth, and added some additional drums.

I'm really pleased about this Mash-Mix, and I think it may be the best one I have done to date.

Enjoy!
